February’s New Moon & Partial Solar Eclipse in Aquarius 🌜

There’s been a lot of funky stuff happening up in the night sky recently; this year’s lunar cycle has really kicked off, giving us Earth dwellers a lot to look at and think about.

I’m talking firstly about the Super Blue Blood Moon back on Jan 31st – a lunar spectacle I can honestly say I missed, due to sleeping through the 4 alarms I set for myself (2.15am, 2.29am, 2.42am, and 2.58am….. yup missed every single one of ’em.)

From pictures on the internet along with pictures friends showed me, it looked pretty bloody cool, and it’s rarity is possibly what made it more awesome.. first time in over 150 years that a total lunar eclipse, blue moon and super moon happened all at the same time.

So now we’re in February, and a few more lunar events are due to happen. For pretty much every city around the world less than 11 hours ahead of UTC/GMT, they have no full moon in February, but two in January and March. This can be referred to as a ‘Black Moon’. To many this is an interesting event; supposedly the absence of a full moon in the month draws more focus towards the new moon, which is a symbol of new beginnings, opportunity and contemplation. However for us in New Zealand and a few other places, we still had a full moon in February, so what does this mean? Who knows.

The term black moon refers to an additional new moon that appears in a month or in a season. It may also refer to the absence of a full moon or of a new moon in a month.
What is still interesting about February, whether you had a full moon or not wherever you are, is the upcoming New Moon. On February 15th/16th we have a New Moon and Partial Solar Eclipse in Aquarius.
A solar eclipse can only occur at New Moon when the Moon passes between Earth and Sun. If the Moon’s shadow happens to fall upon Earth’s surface at that time, a portion of the Sun’s disk is eclipsed by the Moon.

The Moon’s shadow actually has two parts, Penumbra and Umbra which cause partial and total solar eclipses respectively. I learnt that fact via Google 👍

As the new moon eclipse occurs in Aquarius and closely aligns planet Mercury, ideas and communication are on the cards. Luckily, I can’t accidentally sleep through this lunar spectacle, because it’s only visible from Antarctica and some parts of South America. But just because we can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not happening!

According to Forever Conscious, this new moon solar eclipse going to help us communicate and express ourselves to those who we love, yet also help us come to terms with whatever was released around the time of January’s Super Blue Blood Moon.

I don’t know about you guys but personally I’ve been feeling so unsettled coming into 2018. I don’t know if it’s just because I’ve been on full hustle mode and working like crazy, but I just feel all over the place, it’s all been a blur; I feel kind of stuck and unbalanced, struggling to develop my new ideas and map out my next moves.

I like this wee snippet from Forever Conscious, and I’ve put it here not only for myself but a few others I think need to take a minute, relax breathe and read this.

As we come down from all of the heavy Lunar Eclipse energy and prepare for the Partial Solar Eclipse, we may feel all over the place, out of balance or even like we are floundering a bit, but this is all so we can find our feet and work on bringing more grounded energy into our lives.

As we move through the month, it will be important to check in with ourselves and work out what we need to do to feel grounded, secure and balanced from within.

Overall, while the beginning of February may feel a little unsettled, by the end of the month we will definitely start to feel more in sync with the vibrations of the year. This will help us to receive a boost of energy and lots of motivation to start laying down the bricks one by one.

The energy surrounding this Eclipse carries a very gentle, hopeful, and loving energy, due to being within the Aquarius sign. Newly created mental space, made at the start of the New Year, can be filled with this loving, abundant, and positive energy from February’s Solar Eclipse.

This Aquarius energy also evokes a wider perspective and more open mindset; focusing on how our actions and words affect those around us.

I feel quite in touch with moon, tides, stars and the weather, and I’m also partial to a cheeky newspaper horoscope too. I just think it’s important to feel connected in some way, whether it be the ocean, earth, stars or sunsets.

Hygeia, Greek Goddess of Health | Juno, Roman Goddess of Marriage

Along with February’s new moon solar eclipse are two asteroids, Juno and Hygeia. This means love and companionship, along with health and medicine will also be topics on the cards.

On the same day as the solar eclipse, we move out of the year of the Yin Fire Rooster and into the year of the Yang Earth Dog, in Chinese Zodiac. So I guess you could say it really is all happening! 🐓➡️🐶

2017 was an exhausting year under the rule of the Fire Rooster; social unrest, twitter wars, real wars, social hierachy…
However as we shift from fire to earth, the year of the Earth Dog is supposed to help bring a grounding energy, helping us build and express what we want to create in our lives.

So if you’ve made it this far down the blog post, maybe you’re somewhat interested in me yarning about the moon. To wrap it all up, below are a few suggestions to follow with the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aquarius.

・Under the influence of the New Moon, we have to step away from seeing things through our own perspective, and open up to seeing things from a higher perspective

・Relationships are a theme surrounding this eclipse. Our most important relationship is the one we have with ourselves, but we also need to reflect on who we are choosing to surround ourselves with

・You may decide around this time to forge deeper bonds in certain relationships, or you may discover that relationships that are no longer serving you may need to end.

・Taking the time to talk things through and connect with your true thoughts and feelings will  lead to healing and may even help you to gain a new perspective.

・This Solar Eclipse is also the perfect time to tune in and work out what it is that you need to feel complete, whole, and centred.

・The New Moon symbolises new beginnings, opportunity and looking forward. This includes looking at your old goals, setting new ones and refreshing your dreams

・Becoming self-aware and paying attention to how you treat and talk to yourself is also important. Are you loving and kind towards yourself, or are you demanding and place high expectations on yourself?

・Listen to your inner voice and determine if anything needs to shift and change in order for your self-talk to become more loving and supportive.

・Taking time to nourish yourself and look after your own health and wellbeing is really going to be favoured under this energy, and will help you to feel more at ease with the upcoming year
